It’s amazing the wealth of resources available online to help us to learn Spanish. And much of it is excellent! You will be able to find whatever you need to help with grammar, vocabulary, idioms, false friends, the main mistakes in Spanish… to all level of Spanish learners! Thanks to all the teachers who make all this available to us!
My focus however, in Spanish with Victoria, goes beyond getting stuck in only learning grammar and vocabulary and rules… no matter how useful they are of course!
My invitation to you is to get into action, feel in charge of all those sentences, words, rules that are already in your brain and make use of them by speaking. You don’t need to wait till you get it all right, because possibly that won’t ever happen unless you speak.
Communication is essential when acquiring a second language. It’s what makes you feel connected with the language itself, it is what makes sense after so much time, and possible money, spent on learning Spanish. It stops it being an academic exercise and makes it real life!
Communication is what shows you how well you are doing, how well you are progressing, what fun it is to speak Spanish. How much you deserve your sense of confidence and ease when speaking after all the hard work you have invested?
Speaking pays off for all the trouble and confusion and ups and downs characteristic of learning a foreign language. Living together with those inevitable chaotic moments will lead you to the linguistic success you want to achieve. So celebrate your blockages after all and let’s get them out of the way!
Come, take action, be active, be responsible for your practice, feel in charge of your dream of speaking Spanish, listen to your willingness to learn, face the fear and insecurity (we all feel it and it will be gone in no time!).
